"To wear dreams on one's feet is to begin to give a reality to one's dreams,” said French shoe designer and inventor of the stiletto, Roger Vivier. ‘How can you live the high life if you do not wear the high heels?’ said fashion designer Sonia Rykiel.
Indeed, high heel shoes are about much more than fashion, they are about dreams, desires and aspirations. In today’s world, the high heel shoe has come to symbolize daring, drive, adventure, romance, glamour and all the things that transform an ordinary existence into an exciting and exquisite life.
High heels are one of the subjects that have captured the imagination of Hong Kong born fashion designer, visual merchandiser and photographer Ennah Yeung. Yeung, who owns her own fashion label, has always loved photography. She bought her first DSLR camera in 2008, and hasn’t looked back ever since. She enjoys exploring different filters and angles and thinking about new perspectives for compositions. “I am drawn to beautiful things. Dramatic colors and outlines excite me, and I often like to imagine how I can bring forth the character of a thing, a place or an event. Some things as so beautiful that I feel compelled to capture them in a particular moment in time. I believe every object in the world has it own rhythm, and I want to distill this rhythm into an image with perfect timing,” says Yeung.
Yeung’s photographs have a wonderful quality of light, shadow and texture, and her unusual framing encourages viewers to imagine their own stories as they grow from the spark triggered by a chosen image. Her “heels” collection will add an air of elegance and sensuality to any home, restaurant and office, and Ennah feels, they are particularly well suite for bathrooms, where most people have some time alone to reflect on their appearance, their own personal stories and how they hope to express themselves in the world.
